Work up a sweat with No Lights No Lycra and cool down with a film on Bey.
Join us at Ambush Gallery for ‘Waiting for B”, a stunning documentary about Beyonce fan culture in Brazil.
On July 20, 2013, a group of super fans, unable to afford expensive tickets, met on the Internet and decided to pitch a tent in front of Morumbi Stadium in São Paulo. Their plan was to hold a place in front of the main entrance for Beyoncé’s ‘Mrs. Carter World Tour’ concert, set for 57 days later. In the following days, other groups set up four more tents. These five tents represented 150 people, taking turns to maintain a round-the-clock presence, enduring blistering heat, rain, and the occasional harassment of passers-by.
Partnering up with the good folks at No Light No Lycra Sydney, FFS will kick off the evening with NLNL’s signature dark disco. A homage to Queen B, the ‘lights off’ dance party will be an hour of hits from your favourite divas.
No Lights No Lycra is a dance session held in complete darkness. NLNL is a space to shake out the stresses of the week and lose yourself in the music. Started in Melbourne by unruly dance students Alice Glenn and Heidi Barrett in 2009, NLNL sessions now run weekly in over 70 cities around the globe, from Los Angeles to Honk Kong to Reykjavik.
